Claire W.15 Minute LeftShe’s not home yet,” I said, “We still have… some time.”
We only had an hour until it was too late. If she knew anything, it wouldn’t work! I started to work, 40 minutes left now. When I looked up at the clock, slowly ticking, reminding me of the time passing. It said… only 15 minutes left! And then I heard the door creak open in the front hall, filling me with dread. “I’m home!” she called, oblivious to my devastation. I’ve failed. Now to wait another long 10 years until I can attempt it again. |
Blue Skylights
Some people think blue is sad,
But I think it is calm
It’s the color of a rushing stream
Or a new nail polish
It’s the color of when you recycle
And the flower nobody forgets, forget me nots
It gives your eyes a break from all the other colors
It’s when you look into a baby’s eyes
Or the corner of our flag
When you squeeze out toothpaste every morning
Every handicapped sign
It’s the color of hen you stare up between the clouds
Blue Skylights
But I think it is calm
It’s the color of a rushing stream
Or a new nail polish
It’s the color of when you recycle
And the flower nobody forgets, forget me nots
It gives your eyes a break from all the other colors
It’s when you look into a baby’s eyes
Or the corner of our flag
When you squeeze out toothpaste every morning
Every handicapped sign
It’s the color of hen you stare up between the clouds
