Instructions for the Fairytale World
You wake up in a mysterious place. There are apple trees all lined up in a perfect row. Walk down the dirt path; do not eat the apples, for they are poisoned. On the other side you will meet a fork in the road. One path looks dangerous, dark, and scary. The other looks lovely and has a field of poppy’s, unicorns, and blossoming trees. Go down the darker path. The other path has poppy’s that grab onto your ankles and never let go and the unicorns charge at you with their horns and if you survive that, the trees will surely swallow you whole. The dark path isn’t as bad. Trust the wolves, but not the coyotes. The red tailed fox will steal all the things you have. Find the eight-point buck, for he will show you the way. When you come upon the river, do not swim across it. Instead find the bridge. There lies a troll. Answer his riddle, and you shall pass. The riddle is “What instrument can you hear, but not see or touch?” The answer is your voice. On the other side of the bridge, there is a castle. Inside there live what seem to be a kind-hearted king and queen. They will let you sleep there for the night. Do not wait for the morning. The king and queen may seem kind-hearted, but they are greedy. They will do whatever it takes to get something in return. Sneak away in the night. Run north until sunrise. Lie down at the roots of the tree that seems to have a face. Try to fall asleep. When you wake from your slumber, you will be at your own house, in your own bed. No time will have passed.
My querencia, the place I feel in which I feel most comfortable and happy, is my house. One reason why I feel so at ease there is that my family and my friends are always at my house. Another reason I draw strength from this place is my room is at my house and I always feel comfortable and safe in my room. My querencia looks like a normal home with a playroom that has small little pink chairs, a living room with a big television, a kitchen with candles always burning in all different scents, and a few bedrooms that each have cozy beds that are memory foam. It is always warm inside and a lot of the time there are kids outside hanging out. It feel like a home with kids living in it because there’s always some kind of toy out. When the kids are inside, the house sounds like chaos. Some of the things you can find in my querencia are the computer in the office, the air hockey table in the playroom along with the TV other games, and the oven in the kitchen, the comfortable black leather chairs in the living room where I do most of my writing and reading. When the lights are off in the afternoon, or even the morning, and you open the blinds and the drapes, a lot of natural light is provided on the main floor. There are five windows in the living room, two in the office, one in the kitchen, one in the front entry, one sliding glass door, ten miniature ones, five on each side of the doorframe, and two in the playroom. Most of the time, the house is clean or just a few things laying out, my house is perched on the small slope on a hill. Most of the basement and garage are underground, and our driveway goes down with the hill. The upstairs is dark if you don’t have the lights on. Most of the time my mom is baking, so there is always something that smells good. My house is my querencia.
