Daffodil Hill
Daffodil Hill
Yellow like the rising sun
Like ice cold lemonade on a hot summer’s day
Like a burst of happiness that just screams
Today will be a good day!
Like the electricity that powers everything we use
The oven, the microwave, and your phone too
Like a hard Tuesday taco shell or like
The lemon bubble gum you get at the dollar store
With last month’s allowance
The feeling of excitement
The sound of honey bees
Or the sensation a success for a hard earned pay check
Like the canary’s that sing in the morning
Or mother’s fresh baked banana bread
Like a plate of fresh cut pineapples coming your way
Like your surprise that the day is done
As you watch the slowly sinking summer sun
